2 die in police chase ending in Fergus Falls

It’s always a tragic event when people lose their lives in a traffic collision. There is nothing that the driver of the other vehicle will be able to do to bring them back.

Depending on the circumstances of a crash, that driver may face serious consequences for their role in the other party’s deaths. If drugs are found, or if the driver was being particularly reckless, there may be homicide and drug charges to defend against.

Take, for example, this case involving a man who is now facing charges for criminal vehicular homicide and fleeing police. It’s alleged that drugs were found in the 30-year-old man’s vehicle, as a search reportedly resulted in suspected methamphetamine, a torch and drug paraphernalia being collected from the scene.

The crash happened when the man drove the wrong way into downtown Fergus Falls before driving through a stop sign and hitting a couple’s vehicle. His vehicle went on to strike a light pole. The couple passed away.

It was reported that the man had been driving on a revoked license and that the police wanted to arrest him on warrants unrelated to the crash. Previous to the collision, they were involved in a police chase with him. They were trying to arrest him on outstanding warrants for felony fleeing law enforcement, felony theft, felony drug crimes and other charges.

This is a sad case, but it’s important to remember that any defendant will always have a right to defend themselves. There are many charges to consider, and it’s necessary to be sure that the law is carried out correctly and that any convictions come with fair penalties.
